WAREPODS

The brief of this project called for students to select an object or totem to be the driving force of inspiration to design a “fabrication pod” that not only houses equipment, but also inspires and promotes the idea of technology toward the public, industry and wider community.

The object I selected to drive my design was Apple’s wireless AirPods, which inspired the program consisting of two pods shaped similarly to the earpiece of Apple’s product in plan. The roof showcased the AirPod totem with a reflective and seamless Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC) finish, with the skylight inspired by the cage of the speakers, bringing light into the heart of the pod.
